SP Performance Brake Rotors and Pads Installation Tips

4. Remove the bracket and the brake rotor.
6. Also compare the center hole size and the rotor diameter. This will insure you ar replacing the correct rotor on your vehicle. This will save a lot of time and money if they are not right to start with.
IMPORTANT:
When installing the wheel, only use a torque wrench to tighten the wheel nuts. Tightening them with an air tool will cause the rotor to warp. SEE OWNERS MANUAL FOR WHEEL NUT TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.
This installation was performed on a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer:

Always refer to the OEM manufacturers specifications manual when installing brake components
1. Lift vehicle on a level surface and support with Jack Stands. Remove lug nuts and wheel, and inspect for leaks and cracks in the hose and caliper boot.
2. Remove bolts holding the caliper on, and support the caliper with a wire or other means. Do not let the caliper hang by the brake hose as this may cause damage to the hose.
3. Remove the bracket bolts.
5. Carefully inspect the rotor thickness and hub height to insure the rotor is correct.
11. Install the new SP Performance rotor according to the installation directions to insure you are installing them in the correct direction. These rotors are directional. Check runout, which should not exceed ,005". If runout exceeds 005", remove and reposition rotor for minimum runout.

12. Next install the clean and lubricated bracket.
13. Install new brake pads and caliper.
7. Carefully inspect the pads size and shape to insure the pads are correct.

8. Carefully clean and inspect caliper and caliper bracket for ware. Make sure all bushing and pins do not have excessive play. Replace bracket or caliper if worn.

9. Replace all new hardware and lubricate all moving parts of the bracket and Caliper.

10. Clean hub with wire brush making sore to remove all rust. Inspect hub for excessive play. Hub play or any rust or dirt left on the hub may cause the rotor to have excessive runout.
