🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the Driver-Side Wiper Arm

• Use your hand to lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays raised.
• Place a microfiber towel on the windshield under the raised arm.
• A wiper arm is the metal spring-loaded arm that holds the rubber blade against the glass.
• Keep one hand on the arm.

Step 2: Rotate the Old Blade

• Use your hand to rotate the old wiper blade so it sits almost perpendicular to the wiper arm.
• Look where the blade connects to the arm; your Tacoma uses a common J-hook style arm.
• A J-hook is the curved hook at the end of the wiper arm that locks the blade in place.

Step 3: Release the Old Blade

• Use your thumb to press the small locking tab on the blade connector.
• While holding the tab, slide the blade downward toward the base of the wiper arm.
• Once it clears the J-hook, pull the blade away by hand.

Step 7: Replace the Passenger-Side Blade

• Use your hand to lift the passenger-side wiper arm away from the windshield.
• Place the microfiber towel under the raised arm.
• Use your thumb to press the locking tab on the old passenger-side blade.
• Slide the old blade downward and off the J-hook by hand.
• Install the new 21-inch passenger-side wiper blade by sliding it into the J-hook until it clicks.
• Pull gently on the blade by hand to confirm it is locked.
• No torque spec applies because the blade locks by hand.

Step 8: Lower the Passenger-Side Wiper Arm

• Remove the microfiber towel.
• Use your hand to gently lower the passenger-side wiper arm onto the windshield.
• Check that the blade is sitting flat and not twisted.

Step 9: Test the Wipers

• Turn the ignition ON.
• Use the windshield washer switch to wet the glass before running the wipers.
• Run the wipers on low speed and watch for smooth movement.
• If a blade chatters, skips, or streaks, turn the ignition OFF and reseat the blade by hand.
