🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Protect the Door and Mirror Area

• Use painter’s tape 1-inch around the painted edge near the mirror base.
• Place a microfiber towel over the door edge to avoid scratches while you work.
• Put on safety glasses and work gloves.

Step 2: Disconnect the 12V Battery

• Open the hood.
• Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the negative battery terminal clamp.
• Lift the negative cable off the battery post and move it aside so it cannot spring back.
• Do not touch orange hybrid cables.

Step 3: Remove the Inner Door Handle Trim

• Use a plastic trim removal tool to gently pry off the small trim cover behind the inside door handle.
• Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to remove the screw behind that cover.
• Set the screw in a cup or magnetic tray so it does not get lost.

Step 4: Remove the Door Pull Screw

• Look inside the door pull handle pocket.
• Use a plastic trim removal tool or small flathead screwdriver to lift the small screw cover if equipped.
• Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to remove the screw inside the pull handle area.

Step 5: Release the Door Trim Panel Clips

• Start at the lower rear corner of the door panel.
• Use a plastic trim removal tool to gently pry between the door panel and metal door frame.
• Use panel clip pliers if a clip is stubborn.
• Pull straight outward around the lower and side edges until the clips release.
• Slow pressure prevents broken clips.

Step 6: Lift Off the Door Trim Panel

• Once the clips are loose, lift the door panel upward to unhook it from the window ledge.
• Hold the panel close to the door; wires are still connected behind it.
• Use a small flathead screwdriver to press the locking tabs on the electrical connectors.
• Unplug the window switch connector and any courtesy light connector.
• Set the door panel on a clean microfiber towel.

Step 7: Remove the Mirror Interior Cover

• At the front upper corner of the door, locate the triangular plastic mirror trim cover.
• Use a plastic trim removal tool to gently pry the cover away from the door.
• Pull it straight off to release its clips.

Step 8: Unplug the Mirror Connector

• Find the mirror wiring connector inside the door near the mirror mounting area.
• Use a small flathead screwdriver to press the connector lock tab if needed.
• Pull the connector apart by the plastic body, not the wires.

Step 9: Remove the Mirror Mounting Nuts

• Support the outside mirror with one hand.
• Use a 10mm socket, 3-inch extension 3/8-inch drive, and ratchet handle 3/8-inch drive to remove the 3 mirror mounting nuts.
• Keep holding the mirror as the last nut comes off.
• Carefully pull the mirror away from the door and feed the wiring through the opening.

Step 10: Install the New Mirror Assembly

• Feed the new mirror wiring through the door opening.
• Set the mirror studs into the door holes.
• Start all 3 nuts by hand first to avoid cross-threading.
• Use a 10mm socket, 3-inch extension 3/8-inch drive, and ratchet handle 3/8-inch drive to snug the nuts evenly.
• Use a torque wrench inch-pound range with a 10mm socket to tighten the mirror nuts to Torque to 8 Nm (71 in-lbs).
• Snug, not crushing tight.

Step 11: Reconnect the Mirror Wiring

• Plug the mirror connector into the door harness until it clicks.
• Use your fingers to gently tug the connector body and confirm it is locked.
• Route the wire exactly like the original so it will not pinch behind the door panel.

Step 12: Test the Mirror Before Reassembly

• Temporarily reconnect the 12V battery negative cable using a 10mm wrench.
• Turn the vehicle to READY or accessory mode.
• Use the mirror adjustment switch to test up, down, left, and right movement.
• If equipped, test mirror heat by turning on the rear defogger switch.
• Turn the vehicle OFF again.
• Use a 10mm wrench to disconnect the negative battery cable again before reconnecting the door panel wiring.

Step 13: Reinstall the Mirror Interior Cover

• Line up the triangular mirror trim cover with its clips.
• Press it into place by hand until it sits flush.
• Do not use metal tools on the visible trim surface.

Step 14: Reinstall the Door Trim Panel

• Reconnect the window switch and courtesy light connectors by hand until they click.
• Hang the top edge of the door panel over the window ledge.
• Line up the door panel clips with the door holes.
• Press around the panel edges by hand until each clip snaps in.
• If a clip stayed in the door, use panel clip pliers to remove it and reinstall it on the panel first.

Step 15: Reinstall the Door Screws and Covers

• Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to reinstall the screw behind the inside door handle.
• Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to reinstall the screw in the door pull handle pocket.
• Snap the screw covers back in by hand.
• Do not overtighten the screws; they thread into plastic retainers.

Step 16: Reconnect the 12V Battery

• Install the negative battery cable onto the battery post.
• Use a 10mm wrench to tighten the terminal clamp until secure.
• Do not overtighten the clamp bolt.
